Prof. Shikun Cheng

Shikun Cheng is a Professor at the Center for Sustainable Environmental Sanitation (CSES), Department of Environmental Science and Engineering, University of Science and Technology Beijing (USTB).
Beyond his academic role, he serves as the Secretary-general of the Toilet Professional Committee under the China Association of Urban Environmental Sanitation, an Editor for the Journal of Water, Sanitation and Hygiene for Development, and a Management committee member of the IWA Sanitation and Water Management in Low and Middle-Income Countries Specialist Group.
Prof. Cheng has extensive international experience, having served as an academic visitor at Imperial College London (2018–2019) and the University of Birmingham (2025). His work on water and sanitation spans across China and more than 10 other countries, including Mongolia, Lesotho, Nepal, Vietnam, Bangladesh, Pakistan, India, Brazil, South Africa, Germany, Norway, and Austria.
